2010-2011 Percentile Ranks for DIBELS Next Benchmark Assessments

Summary taken from the Center on Teaching and Learning (CTL)
in the College of Education at the University of Oregon:

These percentile ranks for DIBELS Next benchmark assessments are based on a nationally representative sample of schools from the DIBELS Data System (DDS) for the 2010-2011 school year.  The DDS is a web-based database used by schools and districts to enter student performance results based on scores from DIBELS.  Since all of the data were collected and entered by school and district personnel, there is limited knowledge about the accuracy of the data entered.  Although there may have been limitations by those who were trained and the collection of the data, the information from these percentiles is more valuable than the margins of error.  The process of collecting and entering the data was done in good faith to the best of their abilities.  The students were not systematically or randomly selected for the purpose of producing percentiles.  Therefore, these students may or may not be representative of “typical” students in all U.S. public schools.
The percentile ranks were released October 18, 2011.

Each grade has a separate EXCEL spread sheet with tabs for FALL, WINTER, and SPRING.
FALL occurs at the beginning of the year (August through November).
WINTER occurs at the middle of the year (December through February).
SPRING occurs at the end of the year (March through May).

Raw scores are listed along the side with the percentiles in the body of the chart.  The percentiles are color coded as follows:
RED to represent “well below benchmark” for students who are likely to need intensive support.
GOLD to represent “below benchmark” for students who are likely to need strategic support.
GREEN to represent “at or above benchmark” for students who are likely to need core support.
