Setting DNS for DOS / Windows 3.x
The DNS settings are contained in a file named
RESOLV.CFG. This is a simple text file that you can edit with
the DOS EDIT program or any other text editor.
The lines to change are the ones that begin with "nameserver".
Remove the old lines, and replace them with the three lines shown
below:
nameserver 209.56.110.10
nameserver 209.56.110.2
nameserver 165.206.53.253
You will probably find RESOLV.CFG in directory C:\NWCLIENT or
C:\INTERNET. However, you should search your hard drive for multiple
occurrances of RESOLV.CFG. Make the changes in all files you find.
I have written a program named
DNSUPD.EXE
that will automatically search for and update all files. Simply
download this file to a temporary directory, and run it from the
C> prompt.
