I'm excited to start my third year as the GWAEA regional administrator supporting the Clear Creek Amana School District. Below I've highlighted a few ways GWAEA will be supporting your district priorities this year. A Few GWAEA Notes for Clear Creek Amana CSD Staff

  • Teacher Learning Supports
    -  Teacher Leadership Grant: The district is in the second year of the TLC grant. GWAEA is supporting their efforts with Instructional Coaches PD starting in August. For more information, please click on the GWAEA Featured Events and Professional Development link for details.  


    -Instructional Strategies that influence K-5 Mathematics Pilot Project:
    Clear Creek Amana is in the second year of the pilot project of learning that focuses on research-based instructional strategies, classroom discussions, and implementation of the Iowa Core in mathematics. Amy Keller, GWAEA Math Consultant, is supporting the district in this pilot.    


    - Early Literacy Implementation (ELI, K-3): GWAEA will continue to provide support on the statewide initiative of every child becoming a proficient reader by 3rd grade.

    - Collaboration for Iowa's Kids (C4K): Clear Creek Amana is a part of the Collaboration for Iowa Kids pilot program. Alison West, GWAEA General Education Literacy Consultant, is the external coach providing support.


    - New Teacher IEP Training:  Writing quality IEPs is an essential skill for all LEA and AEA staff working with special education students. It is the responsibility of the AEA to provide training and support to ensure all staff understand the basics of the IEP and the expectation of quality IEPs.
