Below I've highlighted a few ways GWAEA will be supporting your district priorities this year. A Few GWAEA Notes for Clear Creek Amana CSD Staff

  • Student Learning Supports
    - Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS): Our goal is to help refine the process to better meet student needs. GWAEA General Education Literacy Consultant Alison West is your contact for any questions and support. 


  • Behavior Learning Supports

    - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS): GWAEA and CCA have a shared goal in PBIS. Visit the link here for upcoming PBIS professional development.  For information, contact your external coach, Lynne Currie, GWAEA School Social Worker.

  • Teacher Learning Supports
    -  Teacher Leadership Grant: The district is a recipient of the TLC Grant for the 15-16 school year. GWAEA is supporting their efforts with Instructional Coaches PD starting in August.     - Leadership for Continuous Improvement series: The district will be sending a team to the LCI series professional development beginning in the fall of 2015.


    -Instructional Strategies that influence K-5 Mathematics Pilot Project:
    Clear Creek Amana is part of a pilot project of learning that will focus on research-based instructional strategies, classroom discussions, and implementation of the Iowa Core in mathematics. Amy Keller, GWAEA Math Consultant, is supporting the district in this pilot.    


    - Early Literacy Implementation (ELI, K-3): GWAEA will continue to provide support on the statewide initiative of every child becoming a proficient reader by 3rd grade.

    - New Teacher IEP Training:  Writing quality IEPs is an essential skill for all LEA and AEA staff working with special education students. It is the responsibility of the AEA to provide training and support to ensure all staff understand the basics of the IEP and the expectation of quality IEPs.
