I'm excited to start my second year as the GWAEA regional administrator supporting the Mid-Prairie School District. Below I've highlighted a few ways GWAEA will be supporting your district priorities this year. If you need additional information, you're always welcome to reach out to me or other AEA staff listed below. Let's make it a great year.

A Few GWAEA Notes for Mid-Prairie CSD Staff

  • Student Learning Supports

    - Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

Our goal is to help refine the process to better meet student needs. GWAEA General Education Literacy Consultant Cathy Angel has had great success with MTSS.

  • Behavior Learning Supports

    - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS):
GWAEA and Mid-Prairie have a shared goal in PBIS. Visit the link here for upcoming PBIS professional development. For information, contact your external coach,
Darcy Schaefer, GWAEA special education consultant, and Susie Dale, GWAEA Teacher: Off-Site Programs.

  • Teacher Learning Supports

    - Leadership for Continuous Improvement series: The district will be sending a team to the LCI series professional development beginning in the fall of 2015.

    - Early Literacy Implementation (ELI, K-3): GWAEA will continue to provide support on the state wide initiative of every child becoming a proficient reader by 3rd grade.  Cathy Angel, your GWAEA General Education Literacy Consultant and
Malinda Svoboda, your GWAEA Special Education Literacy Consultant, are great contacts and will continue to provide support.

  • - New Teacher IEP Training:  Writing quality IEPs is an essential skill for all LEA and AEA staff working with special education students. It is the responsibility of the AEA to provide training and support to ensure all staff understand the basics of the IEP and the expectation of quality IEPs. If you have questions please contact me.  The dates/times/course numbers for the half day face-to-face follow-up training are:
