A Few GWAEA Notes for Midland CSD Staff

  • Social/Behavior Supports

    -Midland and Grant Wood AEA staff will continue to develop and refine the PBIS system with a focus on ensuring consistent development of social expectations for students.  

     

    -Special Education Teachers will engage in evidence-based instruction and progress monitoring to support students’ development of appropriate social skills and behavior.


  • Supporting Student Learning

    - Grant Wood AEA will continue to partner with Midland staff to review and refine our collective work related to MTSS(Multi-Tiered Student learning System).  Some specific efforts include:

1. Prioritizing Standards for each class.

2.  Supporting the implementation of instructional strategies that promote student engagement and understanding.

3.  Develop, implement, and review evidence from quality classroom assessments to guide further instruction for students.

  • Early Literacy

    - Grant Wood AEA will continue to support the implementation and use of literacy screening to guide classroom literacy instruction.

     

    Additionally, we’ll help you provide progress monitoring assistance for those students not meeting benchmark quality instructional interventions.

  • LCI (Leadership for Continuous Improvement)

    - Grant Wood AEA will partner with Midland teachers and administrators during professional learning related to LCI.  This will include ensuring the professional learning is focused and evidence is collected related to the professional learning goals.  Focus areas will be:

Prioritizing standards to enhance clarity of instruction and monitoring student progress. The secondary school will begin plans to implement SBG (Standards Based Grading).

 

Provide teachers support to design, implement and analyze student classroom assessment evidence.
