A Few GWAEA Notes for Olin CSD Staff

  • Early Literacy Support

    -PK-1 teachers will participate in LETRS training.  The implementation of the LETRS training will provide a partnership between Olin teachers and Grant Wood AEA to model evidence-based literacy instruction and reviewing samples of instruction to stimulate future improvement.

     

    -Olin and Grant Wood AEA staff will collaborate to further the implementation of Iowa’s Early Literacy Guidelines. Some of the essential guidelines to be monitored are:

    1.  Review screening evidence from fall, winter and spring assessments.

    2.  Collaborate by modeling evidence based instruction associated with the prioritized standard(s).

    3.  Collaborate to design, implement and monitor interventions for students who do not need the screening benchmark.

  • Social and Behavior Skills

    - Olin and Grant Wood AEA will collaborate to ensure consistent behavior expectations exist across classrooms at Olin.

     

    - Students requiring extensive support will receive evidence based interventions that are monitored to support student progress for developing social/behavior skills.


    Math Core Learning:

    - Olin is implementing new math core instruction resources from “Go Math.”

    - Olin and Grant Wood AEA staff will collaborate to enhance the implementation and monitoring of instructional practices to improve students application of math strategies for problem solving.

  • LCI and Teacher Leadership (Leadership for Continuous Improvement)

    - Grant Wood staff will partner with Olin teachers and administrator during professional learning related to Learning for Continuous Improvement (LCI series).  This will include ensuring the professional learning is focused and evidence is collected related to the professional learning goals. Focus areas will be:

    Prioritizing standards to enhance clarity of instruction and monitoring student progress.

     

    Provide teachers support to design, implement and analyze student classroom assessment evidence.
