A MESSAGE FROM REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR

I'm excited to start my second year as the GWAEA regional administrator supporting the Williamsburg School District. Below, I've highlighted a few ways GWAEA will be supporting your district priorities this year. A Few GWAEA Notes for Williamsburg CSD Staff

  • Student Learning Supports

    - Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS): Our goal is to help refine the process to better meet student needs. Alison West, GWAEA general education literacy consultant, is your contact and support.

  • Behavior Learning Supports

    - Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS): GWAEA and Williamsburg have a shared goal in PBIS. Visit the link here for upcoming PBIS professional development. For information, contact your external coach, Julie King, GWAEA school social worker.


  • Teacher Learning Supports

    - Leadership for Continuous Improvement series: The district will be sending a team to the LCI series professional development beginning in the fall of 2015.
    Lauren Keating, GWAEA school improvement consultant, is your contact and support. 

     

    - Early Literacy Implementation (ELI, K-3): GWAEA will continue to provide support on the state wide initiative of every child becoming a proficient reader by 3rd grade.  Alison West, GWAEA general education literacy consultant, is your contact and support.

     

    - New Teacher IEP Training:  Writing quality IEPs is an essential skill for all LEA and AEA staff working with special education students. It is the responsibility of the AEA to provide training and support to ensure all staff understand the basics of the IEP and the expectation of quality IEPs. If you have questions please contact me.  The dates/times/course numbers for the half day face-to-face follow-up training are:

    - Professional Learning Communities

    The district will continue to refine their work in Professional Learning Communities with the support of GWAEA. In addition, GWAEA will be hosting a couple of professional learning opportunities in September centered around PLC’s.
