2015 Parent/Student Transition Night

April 30, 2015, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.

This workshop will provide valuable information to parents and professionals about the transition process for middle and high school students who receive special education services. There will be speakers, breakout sessions, and informational booths for parents and professionals to learn a wide variety of services in the area of living, learning and working.

 

Keynote Speaker: Jackie Kuntz

Jackie Kuntz grew up on a farm in Southeastern Iowa. She had a 12-year career as a hairstylist and has lived in the Cedar Rapids community for 29 yrs. She currently works as a support provider for people with disabilities as well as a fitness instructor.

 

Jackie has had Tourette syndrome (TS) since the age of six, however, it took until she was 22 years old to finally be correctly diagnosed with the disorder.

 

While life has certainly not been easy, Jackie has reached many goals in her life and strives to help others do the same. She is passionate about helping people overcome adversity and find joy in life through humor and perseverance.
