Flood Recovery Update

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Support to Staff

If you need a pump to drain the basement of your home, Dave Brousard has a pump he is willing to share. Please email him.

A Grant Wood AEA staff relief fund has been established with Hills Bank. Some of our staff are in critical need of cash to deal with immediate needs. To contribute to the fund, mail your checks to Kelly Couchman at Hills Bank, 3610 Williams Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, 52404. Make checks out to Grant Wood AEA Employee Relief Fund.

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
CISM Counselors are available. If you need CISM support, please call or email Janine Wahl (350-4186) or Katy Lee.

The CISM team members are invited to an informational meeting on Wednesday, June 18 at 9 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 220 40th St NE, Cedar Rapids. (Phone 363-2029)

Professional Development
Evaluator Approval is the only class going on this week. The remainder of the agency’s professional development classes for this week have all been cancelled. Most of the classes until further notice will be relocated to new sites. We will post that information on this site later as those decisions are made.

Sixth Street Facility
The Sixth Street Facility is closed until further notice. Extensive repairs will be necessary to renovate the property. No one should go upstairs in the facility without checking with their supervisor. No one is allowed in the building without a tetanus shot. Entry is on the East side of the building through the break room door.

Tetanus Shots
St. Luke’s Hospital is giving free tetanus shots at their facility at 830 First Avenue NE.

How to Handle Leaves
Options for staff who are scheduled to work these days include emergency or personal leave, vacation, calendar change, or leave without pay. With supervisor approval, staff may also have the option to work from home. The agency may have additional needs for staff to help in a variety of roles. Classified staff should check with their supervisor about these opportunities.

Staff will be not be able to submit leaves or calendar changes until the agency’s systems have been restored.
