Legislative Session Under Way – Do’s and Don'ts for Lobbying
Please remember that Iowa law prohibits agency staff from using agency stationery or agency email to lobby legislators. Send correspondence to your lawmakers on your own stationery, note cards or plain paper, and don’t use agency envelopes to mail them. If you don’t have a personal email account, you can set up a Google or Hotmail account. To call a legislator, please use your personal cell phone or home phone. In times such as these, it’s especially important that we do not violate this law. Thanks.

Reminder for Contracted Staff: Professional Leave Reimbursements
As a reminder, the timelines for submitting professional leave reimbursement forms are:
Equipment and materials – no later than March 1, or at least three months prior to leaving the Agency, whichever is first.
Other expenses (including conferences, license fees and professional dues) will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis – again the March 1 timeline is an indication for determining an expense is job-related.
These timelines, which apply to all contracted staff, help establish the job-related connection of the expense and improve the likelihood an eligible reimbursement request will be granted.
For additional details on Professional Leave Reimbursement, see the Grant Wood AEA Business Services and Human Resources manual found on the Grant Wood AEA website.

Welcome, New Staff!
Angela Ayres has joined the agency as a paraeducator. Welcome, Angela!
Thank you to everyone for all of the kind thoughts, cards, emails, well-wishes, and beautiful flowers to boost my recovery from recent knee replacement surgery. It’s nice to back to the routine of working at the agency instead of the routine trips to physical therapy! (Even though the daily exercises will continue at home forever).
Thank you again,
The Bulletin Board is published and distributed weekly to all GWAEA staff and Board members. Buy, Sell or Trade items are run for 2 consecutive issues, unless we are notified to remove an item.
