GWAEA Board meeting
Say “Thank You” to Those Who Make a Difference
The Grant Wood AEA Staff Recognition and Partnerships Banquet is set for Thursday, April 22, at the Old Brick meeting hall in Iowa City. Please plan on joining us for this special event! In preparation for the banquet, we invite you to nominate individuals for recognition.
Your co-workers, educators with whom you work, and members of the community can have a tremendous impact on all that we do as an agency. Saying thank you to these individuals is not only uplifting to them, it can be emotionally rewarding to you as the person who recognizes their efforts.
For over 20 years, the agency has recognized special individuals who have made a difference in our work. We invite you to nominate one or more persons with whom you have worked or individuals you have observed as “going the extra mile” with children, youth or schools in Area 10. We offer a variety of categories to recognize people in various walks of life:
Friend of Education – for individuals from the private sector who contribute time, money or ideas to influence the quality of education students receive in our area
Caring Colleague – for co-workers who make your work life better, happier, more collaborate, interesting and quite possibly even fun
Educational Partner – for educators who we feel are exceptional partners with the AEA in helping students improve and succeed
The agency’s administration also infrequently selects individuals to receive the Leadership in Learning award, which is usually given to outstanding individuals who have had a major impact on the AEA system and education statewide.
Only Grant Wood AEA staff may nominate people for these awards. A randomly chosen group of Grant Wood AEA staff members are selected annually to review and determine the awards recipients.
The Nomination Form is attached to this issue of The Bulletin Board. Also attached is a list of previous award winners. Please e-mail nominations to email@example.com or send them to George or Val in the Communications Office. Contact us at x6824 or x6714 with questions.
Nominations are due by Friday, February 26.
Clarification on Employee Name Badges
January 19, 2010
With the recent changes to the security measures in the building we have made some changes with the way in which employee badges are handled.
Each new employee receives a photo ID badge upon their initial employment with the agency, and employees may update their ID badges periodically throughout their career at Grant Wood AEA at no cost.
To that end:
All staff will continue to receive a free ID badge upon initial employment.
Any staff member may request a new ID badge at any time at no charge to the employee every three (3) years by contacting Creative Services at the 6th street facility.
Broken or badly damaged ID badges may also be replaced at no charge.
Any staff member wishing to have additional badges or who loses their badge and are not yet eligible for a free replacement may purchase an ID badge for $10.00 at any time.
We hope this clarifies any confusion as to the ID badges and any associated fees.
