John Nietupski Memorial Scholarship announced

Dear colleagues, staff and friends of John,

Our most sincere thank you for the support you have given us - food, flowers, gifts of money, and especially your words of caring, comfort and humor. The memories you have shared of John are precious gifts that we will keep in our hearts forever. Thanks to all of you who supported us with personal contacts, cards and notes sharing stories and humorous details that we would not have known otherwise. Thanks to all of you for your extremely generous gifts. John loved his work and, also, loved talking and joking (so much a part of John's personality, as you all know) with all of you. He considered his work through Grant Wood AEA to be some of his very best work years.

John devoted his life to assisting young people with disabilities. So we are proud to have established the John A. Nietupski Memorial Fund to support young people with disabilities to work, attend college and live successfully in the community.

We are also writing now to share the good news that we just have awarded the first scholarships from John's memorial fund to three students from the Career Connections program. All three students received money for course work and books and now have started Kirkwood Community College. All three students had no other family resources to start college. We know that John would be very proud.

With great appreciation,

Sue and Chris Nietupski

Facilities Update

  • A "Concierge Team" met last week to begin plans for providing quality services to guests in the conference center. We'll have more about this later.
  • We will be conducting some work on the front of the building to repair some damage - basically repairing some of the yellow stucco-like walls on the buildings exterior.
  • The warehouse "835" on 33rd Avenue - Carpet, AC installed, furnished, heater repaired, ceiling tiles and light lenses replaced. This will be the "resource area" for PT's and adapted physical education.
  • Our tech support team has finally returned to the Sixth Street office. This marks the end of all major moves of staff returning to the facility.
  • A new wireless access point has been installed in the building near the internal meeting room (old Business/HR office). This should improve the internet connectivity for meeting participants in that room.

New archive feature for The Bulletin Board

A newly created archive of the 2008-2009 school year issues of The Bulletin Board is available. Click here for issues from the 2009-2010 school year. For issues before the 2008-2009 year, contact George or Val in the Communications Office. Archival issues from earlier years were removed from the agency's Document Search function this week as part of an online document cleaning process facilitated by Computer Services.
