Open House for Sixth Street Office

Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, Nov. 4. The agency will be hosting an open house to celebrate the facility's restoration from last year's devastating flood. The open house will run from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. Feel free to invite friends or family to come tour the building. Light refreshments will be available in one of the conference center rooms.

Various escorted building tours will be available. Staff are welcome to invite family and friends to the open house and escort them through the building. Managers will provide tours throughout the building. Guests will be allowed to tour the facility as long as they are accompanied by a GWAEA staff member. Please wear your GWAEA ID badge if you are at the open house.

Gates re-elected to GWAEA Board of Directors

Sue Gates was re-elected to represent Director District 4 during the recent GWAEA Board of Director election. Sue was sworn in to office on Monday, Oct. 19. District 4 includes all of H-L-V, Iowa Valley, Belle Plaine, Benton, Vinton-Shellsburg, and the Center Point-Urbana school district, the portions of Cedar Rapids 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10, and Monroe Precincts within College Community, and all of Cedar Rapids 1 and 2, and Fairfax Precincts.

Teacher Quality proposals are due November 4

New look to agency website

A newly revised Grant Wood AEA website will launch this weekend. In response to staff feedback, the new site will feature pull-down menus on the home page as well as a Google Search feature. Also added will be a Google Translate feature, allowing the text to display in different languages.

Navigation of the revised site will be consistent with that of the agency's current website. For more information, contact the Communications Office, Exts. 6714 or 6824.

Chair Massages

Our Sympathy

Our thoughts go out to GWAEA Board Member Sue Gates and her family on the passing of Sue's mother, Hazel Buehrer, on Oct. 17 in Waterloo.

Our condolences to Careece Thompson on the passing of her mother, Zula May Couchman, on Oct. 30. Services are pending with Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour.

Wanted: Pink Yoplait yogurt lids

Stacy Murphy, IMS operator, is collecting pink Yoplait yogurt lids to support the annual "Save Lids to Save Lives" drive for breast cancer research. Collection containers will be available in the break rooms of the Cedar Rapids and Coralville facilities or contact Stacy, Ext. 6888.

This dog just doesn't age. Most people ask us how old our puppy is and we have to tell them about a decade+. He is perfectly content to play fetch and cuddle with owner each day. He needs an attentive new owner that will spend the time with him that he deserves and a single dog household would be best to reduce competition for toys.
