Update on iPads

iPads are now available for checkout through the Staff Distribution Center.  They have been very popular.

If you need an iPad for a scheduled time with students be sure to order as soon as possible.

Checkout Procedures:

  • The iPads were purchased for use with students and have the same applications as the iPods that are available through the SDC and Assistive Technology collection.

  • Many of you are scheduled for dates in the future. As iPads become available, dates are not adjusted.  Our system is designed to reserve items for specific dates.  We assume you want the iPad for the date it is reserved for you.

  • The check out time period is 20 days. At the present time there are no extensions on these items.

  • It is important that you return your iPad on the due date so we can keep everything on schedule.

  • Additional iPads for the SDC are being considered to accommodate the large number of requests.

Applications:

  • The Media Center has a volume purchasing license with Apple for the applications which allows for downloads of multiple copies and to multiple devices.  Apps may only be added through the designated media center account.

  • Recommendations for educationally related applications to be used with students should be forwarded to Charlotte Haddy for consideration.

It is our goal to make the iPads available for staff for use with students.  If you do not need the iPad for use with students and are interested in “previewing” it there will be an iPad available at the main reservation desk.  Contact Customer Service at 399-6754 to find out the details.
