Separation Plan Policy

Employees who meet or will meet the eligibility requirements for the Separation Plan as of 6/30/12 were mailed letters regarding the plan on Thursday, December 10.  If you believe you meet these requirements but do not receive a letter, please notify the Human Resources office, x6703, as soon as possible. Application deadline to participate in the 2009-10 Plan is March 1, 2010.

Sam's Club membership information

For the last couple of years, the communications office has encouraged employees to a participate in a discounted membership to the Sam’s Clubs. We will no longer plan to coordinate such an effort; however, Sam’s has now made it easy for individuals from our agency to participate.

To renew or join Sam’s Club, all you need to do is print out a copy of the coupon (see link below) and take it along with your Grant Wood AEA name badge to your nearest Sam’s store. You will receive a $10 gift card when you sign up to renew or join. Deadline for renewal or applying is March 7, 2010.

Project Manager, Statewide Online Learning:

Full time position serving all AEAs in Iowa.  Office location will be determined by current location of candidate selected. Contract and benefits will be based on the housing AEA’s current package.  Salary is to be determined, but can be up to a maximum of $80,000 annually, plus benefits. Using Google Docs and Sites


We have had an overwhelming amount of requests for assistance with Google Docs & Sites. We have opened up two full day learning sessions (same content both days) for staff to sign up and have hands on training on the two applications. Please see the information below for registration.

 
Using Google Docs and Sites
This workshop will cover how you can use Google Docs to increase collaboration writing, spreadsheets, presentations, and assessment/data collection. We will also explore Google Sites as a way of publishing information and even creating a controlled online learning experience for your staff and learning community! The day will be broken up by doing Goodle Docs in the morning and Google Sites in the afternoon. Participants are asked to bring their laptops.

Welcome, New Staff!

Today we wrap up introducing this year’s new group of employees. Please welcome these new staff when you get a chance to meet them.

Stacey Snyder joined us this fall as a Curriculum Consultant. Stacey has her MA in science education from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught science at three different school districts and was a science consultant at AEA 7 for two years. She most recently was serving as a school counselor at the Tripoli school district before coming to Grant Wood AEA.

 

 

Stephanie Strouse comes to the agency as a School Psychologist. She will work out of the agency’s northern facility. She, too, is an Ed.S. candidate and has her MAE in Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa.

 

 

Melissa Tandy is a Special Education Consultant who will be working out of the Cedar Rapids office. She has her MA from Morningside College and served as a special education teacher at Osage and Harmony, Iowa.

 

 

Tracy Trenaman is a Speech-Language Pathologist. She recently graduated with her Master’s degree from Minot State University, in Minot, ND. She completed an internship in the Twin Falls School District in Twin Falls, Idaho prior to joining Grant Wood AEA. She will work out of the southern facility.

 

 

 

Tonya Vitense is a School Psychologist working out of the southern facility. She is a candidate for her Ed.S. Degree at the University of Northern Iowa. She also has her MAE in Educational Psychology from UNI. She was a graduate assistant at UNI for the last two years prior to coming to us. She also has worked as a child specialist at CEDARS and as a child advocate at Waypoint Domestic Violence Shelter.

 

 

 

Christy Yetley is a Special Education Consultant serving out of the southern facility. She has her Masters of Science in Education, Effective Teaching from Drake University. She worked as lead teacher at Tanager Place school in Cedar Rapids for 8 years, then took a two-year hiatus to help her husband get his new business started – Sugar Bottom Bikes in North Liberty.

 


Blanket The Heights

Leslee Sandberg is once again conducting a blanket drive for families and individuals who live in the Wellington Heights area. Starting the Monday after Thanksgiving, please bring new or gently used blankets that you’re willing to donate. A box will be set up in the employee break room to receive contributions. We will collect the blankets through January 15. They will be distributed to individuals through the Loaves and Fishes program in the Heights area.


“Angel Tree” for the animals at the Vinton Shelter

An “Angel Tree” for the animals at the Vinton Shelter is available upstairs between Central File and the NE/NW area. There are eight tags for cats at the shelter left on the tree.  If you haven’t already done so, or would like to sponser a homeless pet, please visit the tree.  Also, anyone who took a tag, please have your present at the tree by Christmas Eve morning. Summer trip to England, Scotland and Ireland
