iPad Update 2/3/12

by Jonathan Wylie, Technology Consultant

Agency Purchased Apps Update
Tier 2 apps have now also been distributed to those who had their requests approved. If you think you are missing any apps from either Tier 1 or Tier 2, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

How to Install the Splashtop Remote Desktop App
Make sure you check out our step-by-step tutorial for setting up the Splashtop Desktop Remote app. It has screenshots and specific instructions on how to configure your laptop and your iPad so that you can connect them remotely. Click here to view the instructions.

How to Set Up and Use the PhotoSync App
Another tutorial that I have put together for staff is on how to use the PhotoSync app to transfer photos and videos between your iPad and your laptop, and vice versa. This handy app is a great way to wirelessly move media files from one device to another. Click here to view the tutorial.

App of the Week

This week’s App of the Week is Evernote. This clever note taking app allows you to take typed and/or audio notes on your iPad, and automatically sync them with your computer and the web. Clever stuff! Read more about Evernote here, and submit your own recommendations for app of the week to All published reviews will be rewarded with a redeem code for a Tier 1 app of your choice.

The End of the Road for
We are hereby giving official notice of our intention to remove staff access to the iPad account. At the end of February, this account will no longer be available for use. This means that you will not be able to update any apps that were downloaded on this account, or be able to sign in with this account to download any future apps.

Apps that were downloaded from this account will not disappear from your device at the end of February, but your ability to update them will. This includes all the base apps that were installed on your iPad when you first got it. So, I would strongly encourage you to delete any apps on your device from the account and download them again onto a personal account or your new agency Apple ID. If you do not have a personal Apple ID, you can get one for free by following the instructions here.

If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Welcome, New GWAEA Staff!
