Agency wireless network upgrade planned May 26
Ethernet will be needed for Internet access
On Wednesday, May 26, an upgrade of the wireless network in the Conference Center / Lab is planned. This upgrade will provide better access for guests in the Conference Center and Lab.
Due to installation of the new equipment, GWAEA staff and guests should plan on the wireless being down in the entire building for the day. Anyone working in the Sixth St. facility on May 26 should use an Ethernet cable for Internet access while the upgrade is completed.
Final date for 09-10 Teacher Quality Professional Development Proposals is June 2, 2010
Applications are available on the TQ portal on the AEA website. Please contact Sherry Sines, Professional Development Coordinator, if you have questions.
Your community needs your help!
I am helping out with the Community Baby Shower/Resource Fair, which is being held on June 2 at Hawkeye Downs. This is sponsored by HACAP, Head Start, WIC, Young Parents Network and Salvation Army. We are currently registering families and hope to have around 400 families registered by the time of the event. The families that attend the Baby Shower will have an opportunity to have their young children screened for hearing, vision and developmental. This baby shower will also include information about WIC services, Head Start and many other fmily services in our community. Many of these families are low income or without work.
Your donation would be very important this year because in the past we have had some big sponsors that no longer have the funds to support us. The following are items that could be donated:
Baby diapers (all sizes)
Newborn baby receiving blankets
Please bring your donation to Grant Wood AEA (Northern facility) and drop it in the box upstairs outside of Central FIle. Thank you so much for helping to support these young families in our community!

Thank you for everyone who donated for the Vinton Shelter garage sale/Dog Fair! It was a great success and the Shelter made $1600. They had planned on putting in a puppy nursery, but now will have enough for a kitten nursery also! Todd Frank said there were some great items donated here and I want to let everyone know how much it is appreciated!
Used computer cameras, MP3 players/iPods - once top of the model but now stored in the bottom of the drawer and not being used - donations welcome to wire kids for view and/or sound. Send donated items to Kim Lestina, Coralville/Ext. 6282. Thanks!
