Expanding the Use of EduVision

by Lisa Fry, Programs/Services Administrator for Media and Technology

Plans are in place to expand the use of EduVision, which is a video streaming platform and internet broadasting television service that allows us to upload and run videos on our GWAEA website.

Our goal is to share, manage, and distribute videos of best practices to our schools as well as stream news and professional development opportunities.  To expand the use of this tool, the following plans are in place:
1)  Provide training to LEAs to expand their capacity to use the EduVision portal.  The training will provide districts with the opportunity to receive a license and channel for their use.
2)  Provide training to both AEA and LEA staff to use Camtasia and Snagit software to create quality videos.
3)  Create an editing bay for staff to edit and produce quality video models.
4)  Begin developing our own video models.  We currently have three areas being developed:  collaborative behavior interventions, strategies/techniques to reach and support students on the autism spectrum, and instructional strategies coaching tools.
5)  Provide professional development and model the use of video to flip the classroom.
6)   Begin streaming and scheduling events.

We are excited about the potential uses for this video repository.  We believe that strong video models of effective teaching and learning practices along with opportunities to use video as a learning tool for both students and adults will positively impact classroom pedagogy. The training dates will be announced at a later date.

Refrigerators to Be Emptied

Refrigerators in the break rooms will be emptied out this Friday. Once a month we will be emptying all items (except condiments) that are in the refrigerators. This is in keeping with a long-standing policy to help keep the refrigerators clean and free of aging or spoiled food. If you have any sort of container or food stored in the fridge, please make sure you remove it before you go home Friday night.

The next issue of The Bulletin Board will publish on July 6.

Thank you

Thank you to all Grant Wood AEA Wood Staff for the many cards, gifts and kind words in honor of my retirement! I am thankful for twenty very good years at Grant Wood AEA Wood and will miss being with you and working with you every day.

Dave and I plan to enjoy this next phase in our life with family, friends and travel at the top of our list. We are staying in the area so look forward to seeing many of you from time to time. Thanks again for thinking of me at this special time in my life. Enjoy your summer and have a great start to a new school year!

Dear Grant Wood Colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who has been so gracious these most recent weeks in recognizing my retirement, either through receptions, good wishes, cards, gifts, gift cards, etc. The generosity of everyone has been overwhelming. Jim and I look forward to retiring or “rewiring” into the next phase of our lives, which seems to include lots of little grandchildren right now, and hopefully many more travels and adventures ahead. These past years at Grant Wood have been quite enriching and productive in the educational world, only to be surpassed by the many friends and relationships which have been built.

Thank you again,

Marsha Reitzler

Thompson to participate in American Diabetes Tour de Cure

I am riding in the American Diabetes Tour de Cure fundraising ride.  It is a 100 mile bike ride on June 25 with the fundraising money going to find a cure for diabetes. I am sure you have many causes you support, but if you could contribute $5.00 or $10.00 towards this cause, I would really appreciate it.  If you would like to make a donation, please click on the link below.

Recycling with Rick

Greetings everyone,

Well, summer is here and it's a bit quiet around the agency. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

For those of you moving around offices, retiring, etc... I do have some boxes in the garage left for packing up items. Just give me a call if you need a few.

We have been doing well with our recyclables. Go Team!!! We are even now not only recycling we are reusing items. Recently, the math area had some three-ring binders free to anyone who wanted them. (At the time of writing this article, there were still five of those left). Also, 33rd Avenue has two boxes of three- ring bindersif anyone would like them. (If there are still some left early next week, I will bring those over to Sixth St. and put them in the Staff Break Room).

If there are items that you cannot/will not use, but still in good condition, let me know and I can most likely find a place for them. No sense in tossing out something that someone else can use.

As many of you have noticed, we are starting to clean out the refrigerators on the last Friday of each month. Please take your items home with you before closing time that evening. The refrigerator(s)/freezer(s) will be cleaned that evening or over the weekend. Items can be returned on Monday. In the realm of recycling, if there is something you don't want, but think someone else might be able to use, put it on the counter by the microwave(s) for people to pick up. ANYTHING left behind will be tossed into the garbage.

Until next time...Keep Recycling,
