Wear Your Badges

When you come to the Sixth Street office, please be sure to wear your badge. We have had numerous staff members enter the building and say, "Oh, my badge is out in my car. …my house …at school. Do I really need it?" The answer is, "Yes." Everyone in the Sixth Street building should be wearing either their GWAEA badge or a visitor badge.

Individuals serving at the front desk and elsewhere in the building know a lot of our staffs' faces, but not everyone. Most of the schools we serve have instituted strict rules about visitors to their buildings wearing ID badges. We have tightened our security for the same reason – safety for our staff. Please support us in this effort.

AEA Blog Shares Message with School Administrators, Legislators and the Public

Iowa AEA

The AEAs statewide are working to communicate positive aspects about the AEA system to legislators and school administrators. As part of this public relations effort, the AEAs have developed a blog titled Impacting Lives. These blogs will be posted on a monthly basis throughout the year. As they are posted, we'll include a link to them in The Bulletin Board. Please feel free to share the blog link with family, friends, clients - whoever you think would benefit from knowing more about what the AEAs do.

Food Bank Contributions

If you would still like to contribute to the food bank and didn't bring anything to the all agency meeting, we are still collecting items. Please bring them to the Sixth Street receptionist's desk or to the Coralville Office receptionist. Items donated at the Sixth Street office will go to the Loaves and Fishes food bank in the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Items donated in Coralville will go to the Crisis Center in Iowa City. We are told by United Way officials that food insecurity is a large problem among families in need; so your contributions are greatly appreciated!

Computer Quick Tips

There is a simple and fast way to minimize all computer applications you may have open on your computer. This will allow you to get to your computer desktop in a heartbeat. Look at your PC keyboard. Near the bottom, left-hand corner, there is a key with the Microsoft flag on it. Hold down that key and press the letter D. All of your applications will be minimized (not turned off – just minimized).

Congratulations!

Cathie Stutsman, school social worker, is now a proud first- time grandmother! Oliver Grey Stork, was born on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 8:34 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City to Cathie's daughter Anne and husband Noah Stork. Oliver weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz.. and was 21" long. Congratulations!
