Reminder to update emergency contact information and beneficiaries

In the event of an emergency, we want to be sure to have accurate, up-to-date emergency contact information on file for employees.  To ensure that this information is current, employees are asked to review this information annually.  As a reminder, in an emergency situation, we will always try to contact a spouse first, if identified, then Contact 1 or Contact 2.

To update:
1)    Go to GWAEA home page, click on Staff Website, click on HR & Business Office, then Employee Information. (www.gwaea.org/cfapps/StaffEmploy/SignOn.cfm)
2)     Enter your first and last names and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
3)     Click on Contact List (found under Navigational Links).
4)     Click on the text under either ‘relationship’ or ‘name’ to update the record.
5)     Click on Save Changes or Delete this Contact.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Human Resources Office at ext. 6703.  Thank you for keeping this information current.

Please also remember to update beneficiary information as family changes occur.  Employees designate beneficiaries for the group life and IPERS benefits.  Contact Cathy Kearns, Compensation/Benefits, at ext. 6706, to make any beneficiary changes.

Grant Wood AEA Start Somewhere Walk is planned Oct. 7
(33rd, Sixth and Coralville facilities)

Iowa is kicking off the Healthiest State Initiative with a statewide Start Somewhere Walk on Friday, October 7. At noon that day, all Iowans are asked to walk for one kilometer, wherever they are. Everyone is invited to get Iowa started on the path to becoming the healthiest state in the nation by 2016.

Grant Wood AEA will hold walks at each of the agency's three facilities on October 7. The walking routes will be mapped. To register online, visit this link and please note on the registration if special assistance is needed. Additional walks at schools or in the community area planned. Check the Healthiest State Initiative website for walk details and a list of planned walks.

Organizers of the Iowa Start Somewhere Walk have announced a goal of breaking a world record by having 250,000 Iowans participate in simultaneous one-kilometer walks on Friday, October 7, at noon. The current world record is claimed by Canada, which had 231,635 participants in simultaneous one-kilometer walks throughout the country in 2007.

For information about the Grant Wood AEA Start Somewhere Walk, contact
George Held, ext. 6714 or Kim Martin, ext. 6710.
