These individuals are your voice on the council. If you have questions about how or why things are done within the agency or have suggestions for how to improve the agency, you can share your ideas and questions directly with any of the advisory council members. All of the names below are hyperlinked. You can click on any of these to launch an email message to your representative.

You also can share ideas by clicking on the Staff Idea Board. To find the Idea Board, hover your mouse over the GWAEA Staff section at the bottom of the agency's Web page. Select GWAEA Information from the drop-down menu. A list will appear, and at the bottom of the list, you'll see the Staff Idea Board link.

You can post ideas to the Idea Board at any time. All ideas posted to the Board are shared with the Advisory Council. If you want to have someone get back to you about your idea, you may post your name in the space provided. If you prefer to remain anonymous, that is okay, too.

Gift from the Iowa Educators Consortium

The Iowa Educators Consortium has provided spray hand-sanitizers in a handy pen-sized container for all AEA employees across Iowa.  A supply of the hand-sanitizers is being provided to region secretaries in the Coralville and Sixth Street offices for distribution to all itinerant staff. For all other staff who would like to receive one of these personal hand sanitizers, please contact Cathy Nelson at the Sixth Street office front desk (ext 6544).

Puppeteers wanted!

Grant Wood AEA needs puppeteers for “The Kids on the Block.” Teams are now being formed so if you are interested in becoming a puppeteer, please complete the form and return by Wednesday, September 15th to Cathy Nelson in the Northern Facility.

Control Key

Use the control key to edit Word documents

Many people don't realize how helpful the Control key (on some PC's it says "Ctrl") can be when editing a Word document. Here are some ways it can be used.

Put your cursor in the midst of a sentence. Press down the control key and left click once with your mouse. Word will highlight the entire sentence. This is especially helpful when you want to highlight a sentence to cut and move it somewhere else in the document.

Use the control key and the arrow keys to move quickly around in a document. If you hold it down and press the up or down arrow keys on your keyboard, it will advance to the top of each paragraph. (Much faster than using the mouse to navigate!)

Create Your Own Personal Education Directory

Math Consultant Susan Parker suggested this great tip for how to use the online Education Directory. "I used the ed directory to cut and paste to make a document for my schools only. I could then add pertinent info for me (math teachers in the district and curriculum directors). This is so much easier that having the entire directory. Thank you for having it online so that I could do that."
