Call for Presenters for Grant Wood AEA Innovation Day,
May 13, 2013

Inspiring the transformation of education through innovation:
A Showcase of Talents

Do you have an innovative practice that you are interested in showcasing? Call for Presenter registrations will open soon for the third annual Innovation Day, planned on May 13, 2013,
1:30 - 4 p.m. in the Grant Wood AEA Conference Center.

This event will function like an open house or science fair with Grant Wood AEA staff posted at various tables sharing new ideas and practices they are using in the schools.

If you don't plan to present, please join us for the afternoon of exploring new ideas, innovations and teaching techniques being explored and developed by Grant Wood AEA staff and learn what's on the horizon for enhancing K-12 education. This special event will be open to agency staff, school administrators, curriculum directors, elected public officials, etc.

Registration will be available through March 15, 2013. Watch for the link to register in next week's issue of The Bulletin Board.

Reminder for Contracted Staff:  Professional Leave Reimbursements

As a reminder, the timelines for submitting professional leave reimbursement forms are:

  • Equipment and materials – no later than March 1, or at least three months prior to leaving the Agency, whichever is first.

  • Other expenses (including conferences, license fees and professional dues) will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis – again the March 1 timeline is an indication for determining an expense is job-related.

These timelines, which apply to all contracted staff, help establish the job-related connection of the expense and improve the likelihood an eligible reimbursement request will be granted.
For additional details on Professional Leave Reimbursement, see the Grant Wood AEA Business Services and Human Resources manual found on the HR & Business Office page of the Grant Wood AEA website.

Nominations due March 8 for the Grant Wood AEA Staff Recognition and Partnerships Banquet
