Summer Learning with GWAEA's College for Kids and Connect

Summer student learning is continuing through Grant Wood AEA's College for Kids - Session 1, and Connect, both scheduled June 15-26.

GWAEA's College for Kids is in its 28th year of offering summer advanced level academic and fine arts courses in the college setting to eligible students in gifted & talented programs who have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade.

connect

Over 500 students are participating in each session of GWAEA's College for Kids, which is held at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. The second session is planned July 6-17.

GWAEA's Connect (above) is a summer program for middle and high school students held at the Artisan's Sanctuary in Czech Village. The intent of this program is to "connect" youth to the community around them through a hands-on, experiential learning approach. The program will result in a student exhibit to displayed at the Sanctuary. The exhibit opening will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 5-7 p.m.

For information on both programs, contact Susie Green, GWAEA student programs specialist,
ext. 6775.

springcleaning

Now's The Time!

It’s time for a little spring cleaning! Our agency is preparing for a refresh, and we have drafted guidelines to aid staff with this process. Staff should reference these tools to ensure consistency with what we discard/recycle, and how to organize our materials going forward.

Timeline for Cleaning

Coralville office furniture will move in/set up through the week of June 22nd - June 30th.

Thank You

A big thank you to all that donated used shoes for the Vinton Friends of the Shelter fundraiser! A total of 4,035 pairs of shoes were collected totalling approximately 4,000 lbs! Also an extra thank you to Cathy and everyone that filled in at the switchboard for calling me when we received shoes being dropped off from outside of the agency. Great team effort here and within the Benton County community!
