Clarification on FAST/TIER System Use in AEA 10

At this month's All-Agency meeting, we discussed that, beginning this fall, all schools will be required to use a progress monitoring and universal screening tool that’s been approved by the Department of Education.  Many districts have expressed interest in or are committed to using FAST/TIER system to meet this requirement.  As we explained during our meeting, we will not know which districts will implement the FAST/TIER system until school begins this fall, and until the LEA FAST/TIER system accounts and associated supports are in place. Additionally, GWAEA continues to work with the Department of Education to establish AEA staff accounts in the FAST/TIER system.

We will keep our staff apprised as progress is made in gaining GWAEA staff accounts, and will share more about the LEA screening tools as warranted.  If staff have questions about the FAST/TIER system, please contact your Regional Administrator.

Have you tried to “Zoom?”

Zoom is a new cloud-based video conferencing product that is being adopted by all AEA’s in the state and the Iowa Department of Education.  All Grant Wood AEA, staff will have access to this service.  Zoom will allow you to have a video meeting with multiple endpoints (you may connect  to a virtual meeting with a Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone, Android device, H.323 Polycom or telephone).  It is simple to use and schedule meetings.  As a host, you can meet with 25 sites at one time.  We have also purchased large room meeting adapters that will allow you to meet with up to 100 sites at one time if requested.

Video Conferencing Features:
Screen Share your desktop or application window (annotate over screen)
Group or private chat
Record your meeting
Manage participants
Schedule video meetings ahead of time or invite people on the fly with an email or meeting ID
Instant meetings in your personal virtual meeting room
Interface with your Google contacts (when you login with your Google ID)
Remote control another computer

If you are interested in using the Zoom video conferencing service, please email a request for an account to tech@gwaea.org.  Once an account is requested, we will send you an email invite from the system and a follow-up  email with training/setup information.
