Construction Continues in Preparation for Grant Wood AEA’s Move to The Kirkwood Center at the University of Iowa

(Phone service to the current Coralville facility will be disconnected Friday morning, July 17)

Construction and set-up continues in preparation for Grant Wood AEA’s move to the fifth floor of The Kirkwood Center at the University of Iowa, 2301 Oakdale Blvd., in Coralville.

Phone and Internet service to the current Coralville facility on Holiday Rd. will be disconnected on Friday, morning, July 17. Grant Wood AEA Tech Support will provide three cellular hotspots for staff members that remain at the Holiday Rd. facility to use, but these will only accommodate a handful of users at a time. Phones will be activated at the new facility as soon as possible, but there are issues outside of our control.

External calls to a Coralville facility number will not be answered with the exception of the 319-351-2510 number, which will be transferred to the Grant Wood AEA Northern facility switchboard. Calls made internally at either Sixth St. or 33rd Ave. to a Coralville facility number will go to voicemail.

The building is not yet feasibly accessible for staff to visit or move in as construction and set-up continues. For information about the facility move, contact Tina Hoffman, GWAEA regional administrator. For questions on phones or Internet, contact Dave Brousard, GWAEA Director of Information Technology

Our thanks to Dave for sharing the following photos for today's issue of The Bulletin Board.

Plan to Attend All-Agency Inservice, Aug. 17, 2015

Registration from 8:00-8:55 a.m.; Inservice begins at 9 a.m.

Each year, GWAEA staff gather at the All-Agency Inservice to welcome back those who have had the summer off, and take time to catch up with staff who have been working throughout the past few months on services and projects.

gwaea

This year’s All-Agency Inservice will be Monday, August 17, at 9 a.m. in the Concert Hall at College Community. (map) Staff should plan to arrive between 8:00 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. in the Concert Hall foyer for registration and an opportunity to visit with your colleagues. The annual meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. While the All-Agency Inservice will wrap up before lunch, staff should plan to attend regional meetings in the afternoon.

Staff will receive letters and a map to their home address with directions to available parking areas at College Community on the day of the inservice. The map notes two areas as no parking areas:

- the parking lot north of the football field will be blocked off for band camp activities

- no parking on the road/grass that curves on the west side of the Concert Hall

Staff should follow up with their supervisors for additional information on the day’s activities.
We look forward to welcoming you back on Aug. 17.

Thank You

Sincere thanks for the cards, gifts and kind words upon my retirement.  I am retiring on the 40th anniversary of my first contract as a Grant Wood SLP in 1975, and share an anniversary with Grant Wood AEA’s beginnings, as well.  I have enjoyed my years as an SLP, where I have always had the support and expertise of a dedicated staff at my disposal. It was my high honor to work with the Grant Wood AEA staff and with my cherished students over the years. Words cannot express my thanks to you, and I wish you nothing but the best in the years to come.
