Grant Wood AEA Mission: To ensure success for all learners.

Deadline is next week for
early notice incentive

gwaea

At their meeting on Thursday, November 10, the GWAEA Board of Directors approved the offering of an early notification incentive to help support a timely hiring process for 2017-18.

The financial incentive is available to Contracted and Management staff for providing the agency with early notification of their pending resignation or retirement. Specifically, Contracted or Management staff would need to commit to resigning or retiring at the end of this current work year, in writing, to Human Resources between November 11, 2016, and January 10, 2017. If the retirement or resignation is accepted by the Board no later than its regular meeting on January 11, 2017, the staff member will receive an incentive of $1,500, payable to them on June 16 (conditional upon the staff member satisfactorily completing his or her contract obligations for the year).

See the complete article in the Nov. 10, 2016 issue of The Bulletin Board.

Tips for navigating the new gwaea.org

The agency's new website went live the week of December 19th! Thank you to all staff for their support and patience as our staff and partners learn to navigate the updated design and content.

The communications office has a few tips to help staff navigate to frequently utilized tools on the former site that are still available on the new version:

Staff Directory- the directory of GWAEA staff is available in three places: under the How We Can Help menu across the middle of the home page, from the Contact Us page, and from the Staff Portal.

District Directory- the interactive map of the seven county GWAEA area is available under
About GWAEA
-> Districts Served by GWAEA.

IEP System- Many staff were accustomed to accessing the state's IEP system from a shortcut on our site. This shortcut is now available in two places: under Educators -> Special Education and in the
Staff Portal under External Quick Links.

A special note about the staff portal- GWAEA staff will note that the new site does not currently require a log in to access the Staff Portal. Some staff experienced challenges with utilizing the log in process to access our staff tools like ESS and Time Card Entry, so we have temporarily disabled the log in process. Our intent is to roll out the log in process at a later time.

Thanks for your cooperation and partnership as we continue enhancing our new web presence.

Contact Renee Nelson in Communications to share your thoughts.

Electronic W-2 Delivery Consent

The Grant Wood Payroll System has the functionality to distribute Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statements electronically to employees who give consent.  By giving electronic W-2 delivery consent, this means you will not receive a paper W-2 Form in the mail.  Instead, you would receive an email indicating that your W-2 Form is available to view and print from the Employee Self Service (ESS) site.

Employee consent is available within the Employee Self Service (ESS) site.  Log in with your username and password.  Under the ‘my information’ column select the W-2 History menu item.  Read through the Electronic W-2 Delivery Consent bubble and click on the “Click here to give your consent” link to give your consent.  The Terms of Electronic Consent to receive W-2 form are displayed.  Read the terms and give consent by clicking the I CONSENT TO ELECTRONIC W-2 DELIVERY button and confirming consent.

W-2history

Note:  Staff who consented to electronic W-2 delivery last year will receive electronic delivery again this year unless the staff member removes the consent.  Staff wanting to receive their W-2 statement with this earlier electronic delivery option should make their consent by January 13, 2017 to secure this delivery method.  Staff not consenting to electronic delivery will receive a paper W-2 in the mail no later than January 31, 2017.

Contact Cathy Kearns, Compensation/Benefits, with any questions about W-2 Forms and/or electronic delivery consent.

Thank You

Thank you to all that contributed to the Angel Tree for the dogs at Last Hope and the Cats at Vinton Friends of the Shelter!  As always, we collect a lot of things needed to help both of the rescues run (food, bedding, litter) and also things to help the dogs and cats have a treat or toy for Christmas.

All of you amaze me on your willingness to give, contribute and help those who need assistance. Sorry not many pictures, I was fighting the flu and didn't stick around to take pictures when I delivered to the shelter!
