For Many GWAEA Districts, Spring Includes Expanded FAST Assessments

Iowa's Area Education Agencies logo

Last October we shared with staff that the AEA system was extending a new contract with FastBridge Learning to help subsidize the costs associated with additional functionality in the area of K-6 literacy, and additional assessments in mathematics and behavior.

Several of our GWAEA districts have signed up to begin using these assessments during the spring screening window April 23 - May 18. Those districts include:

Iowa City Community School District Elementary Schools- Behavior and Math
Center Point-Urbana Primary, Intermediate and Middle Schools - Math
Midland Elementary- Math
Central City Elementary- Math
Springville CSD Elementary Schools - Math
College Community Elementary Schools - Math
Xavier Catholic Schools- St. Joseph Elementary - Math
Clear Creek Amana Elementary Schools - Math
Mid-Prairie CSD Elementary Schools - Math
Benton Community Elementary Schools - Math
Mt. Vernon Elementary School - Math
Highland Elementary School - Behavior and Math
Linn-Mar CSD Elementary Schools - Math

The AEA system also has coordinated online training to support districts and schools for these assessments this spring, and we expect many additional districts to commit to using these resources for fall assessments as well. GWAEA staff who would like to learn more about the assessments can reference this FastBridge FAQ document, or these training resources that were created for districts.

BrightBytes Clarity Survey

Survey to be completed by April 20, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

In order to track our growth toward our agency goal “ To increase educator capacity to bring equity and accessibility to learning through technology, resources and innovative practices,” we need to revisit our own strengths and areas for growth related to technology.

brightbytes

To track these data, we would appreciate staff completing our BrightBytes Clarity Survey for 21st Century Service Agencies by Friday, April 20.

We are asking ALL staff to complete this survey again. As a reference here are some of the terms that may help clarify what we use for tools.  There are items here that we haven't addressed this year, but will be revisiting in the future phases of support.

You can access the questionnaire from any device with internet access. It will take about 10 minutes to complete. We would like the survey to be completed by April 20, 2018, so we can use the results to plan supports for the upcoming year. Thank you for taking part in this important initiative!
