The Big Picture

AEA PREP - Postsecondary Readiness & Equity Partnership

Updated district dashboards are now available

GWAEA The Big Picture graphic

AEA PREP (Postsecondary Readiness & Equity Partnership), focuses on building equitable capacity throughout Iowa among AEAs, and in turn, PK-12 schools.

AEA PREP centralizes and streamlines the data collection and follow-up district professional development/support needed to improve equitable student postsecondary readiness outcomes.

The AEA PREP Data Dashboards have been updated and the data is now available to help school districts with postsecondary data for their high school graduates.

The dashboards are intended to help guide school districts in establishing and monitoring postsecondary readiness goals aligned with both the Iowa College and Career Readiness definition and overall school improvement efforts.

These highly interactive dashboards provide districts with a tool to:

  • Examine student postsecondary success through readiness and demographic filters

  • Provide postsecondary readiness and demographic data provided by Iowa school districts through State Reporting in Iowa (SRI)

  • Identify programmatic areas of success in relation to  increasing postsecondary enrollment and award/completion

  • Support the entire school improvement process in conjunction with other data sources already in use, such as Every Student Succeeds (ESSA) reporting, school report cards, and DA/Healthy Indicators.

In addition, postsecondary enrollment and award data are provided through three sources:

  • Iowa Board of Regents (for public Regent universities in Iowa)

  • Iowa Division of Community Colleges & Workforce Preparation (for public community colleges in Iowa) and,

  • The National Student Clearinghouse (for in-state private colleges and universities and all out-of-state colleges and universities).

Have questions about district dashboard information? Contact a GWAEA school improvement consultant for more information, or Chad Blanchard, AEA PREP lead, or Kelly Jones, AEA PREP data technician.

GWAEA Staff Recognition and Partnerships Banquet

Thursday, May 9 - Bella Sala, 205 S. Park Rd., Tiffin

Grant Wood AEA logo

Saying “thank you” to your co-workers, community volunteers and/or the people with whom you work can be wonderfully uplifting to these special people. It can also be satisfying and meaningful to you, personally.  Please consider nominating one or more persons you have worked with or observed as “going the extra mile." The categories you may nominate individuals for are:

  • Friend of Education (usually business and community partners)

  • Educational Partner (usually school personnel)

  • Caring Colleague (GWAEA staff only)

Only Grant Wood AEA staff may nominate people for these awards.  A random group of Grant Wood AEA staff members always comprises the awards selection committee. Click for a list of previous honorees.

Nominations for these awards can be submitted here. The nominations will be reviewed by a selected group of GWAEA staff members in March. Both the nominating individual and those who are selected to be recognized will be notified in April.

The 2019 Grant Wood AEA Staff Recognition and Partnerships Banquet will be held on May 9 at Bella Sala, 205 S. Park Rd., Tiffin.

Iowa’s AEAs bestow three awards annually to outstanding candidates for their contributions to education and the work of Iowa’s AEAs. To submit a nomination, complete this application by Feb. 15, 2019. Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination.
