Live Healthy Iowa Wellness Challenge

Congratulations! Grant Wood AEA staff are celebrating their participation in the 10 Week Live Healthy Iowa Wellness Challenge, which concluded on March 22. Over 150 GWAEA employees participated. And the celebration included the following team photos. Congratulations to all!

2019 Building Bridges Accessible and Assistive Technology Conference, Tuesday, April 16

Will Be Impacted

More than 200 educators will participate in the 2019 Building Bridges Accessible and Assistive Technology Conference planned at the Grant Wood AEA Sixth St. facility on April 16. Congratulations to Julie Freed, GWAEA speech-language pathologist, and
Maggie Pickett, GWAEA digital learning consultant, for co-coordinating the conference.

 

Parking, break rooms, and restrooms will be impacted. Staff are encouraged to park on the east (back) side of the parking lot. The conference will utilize many of the agency's common spaces. Please help us make our guests feel welcome.

2019 Building Bridges Outstanding Assistive Technology/AAC Special Education Technology Teacher Team Nomination Form

Nominations Due Friday, April 5, 2019

 

Nominate an area educator or team for recognition at our upcoming Building Bridges Outstanding Assistive Technology Conference on April 16, 2019. We are inviting any GWAEA staff to nominate a general education/special education educator and/or building team in the Grant Wood AEA area who has thoughtfully considered, embedded and integrated the use of accessible and assistive technology and/or augmentative communication to promote access for all.

 

Accessible and assistive technology use includes, but is not limited to, technology tools/supports for reading, writing, communication, vision, mobility and access to instructional materials. Nomination forms should be submitted by Friday, April 5. Thank you for helping us recognize outstanding educators in our GWAEA area.

Remote Work Site Program (2019-20)

This program is available for eligible Contracted and Salaried staff who are based in any of the Agency Centers (6th St, 33rd Ave and Coralville).
 
Details about this program, including a program overview and employee application form, are attached for your information and reference. Please note:

  1. Eligibility for the program will be determined on an individual basis at the supervisor’s discretion. Employees are to submit an annual application to participate in the program and supervisors will determine if such an arrangement is appropriate for an employee using criteria that are outlined in the overview.

  2. Dedicated work space in an Agency Center will not be provided for employees who participate in the RWS program, however participating employees will have access to Agency facilities including temporary work space.

  3. The program is not available for hourly employees (due to the legal requirements for monitoring the work time of hourly staff).

  4. Employees must apply for program participation each year. Completed application forms are to be submitted to the supervisor by May 1 for the upcoming work year.  

  5. Clear guidelines and requirements related to employee schedules, work hours, Agency resources, safety, security and liability are provided in the overview document. 

If there are questions or more information is needed regarding this program, employees may contact their supervisor or the Human Resources Office. This program is available to help ensure effective and efficient Agency services and a productive work environment for Agency staff. This program will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and changes may be made as needed. Employees are invited to provide feedback about what’s working well with the program and/or suggestions for improvement. Feedback may be submitted to the Human Resources Office.

The inaugural Corridor Corporate Games will feature corridor companies in three divisions.
The companies are placed in divisions based on general company size from Division 1 (largest) to Division 3 (smallest). See The Bulletin Board, March 21, for the current corporate participants. GWAEA will be in Division 2. And watch for registration information available in the April 4 issue of The Bulletin Board.
