Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! The schedule for this year's
All Agency meeting includes:

8-9 a.m. - Staff welcome, registration and coffee. Location: Solon High School main cafeteria and commons area. Enter through the high school main entrance.

 

9-11:30 a.m. - All Agency Inservice
Location: Auditorium

Our morning program will include a panel discussion about agency programs and services from a variety of educational perspectives. We will also spend time celebrating some of our agency's successes from the past year.

 

The meeting will conclude before lunch. Staff will have an opportunity to attend their region meetings in the afternoon. Watch for additional communications from your regions about additional meetings that may be scheduled later that day. If you need additional information on regional meetings, please follow up with your supervisor.)

 

Please note the following:

  • Directions to Solon High School

  • Auditorium - No food or beverages are allowed. Coffee will be available in the cafeteria and commons area.

  • Meeting to conclude at 11:30 a.m.

  • Staff who may need access to a private space or mother's room should contact
    Carla Green
    for information.

  • We have a limited number of tables available for agency organizations interested in having handouts or information available for staff during this meeting. Contact Renee Nelson to arrange for a table. 

  • We will send this information to the homes of staff who will be new to the agency, but we will not be mailing a letter to our current and returning staff members.

Also, as staff prepare their calendars and schedules, you are encouraged to review the scheduled PD-Palooza technology learning that’s available for agency staff on Aug. 15-16.


PD Palooza, Aug. 15-16, 2019

GWAEA Staff Technology PD-Palooza

The PD Palooza learning sessions for agency staff are planned Aug. 15-16 in the Sixth St. facility conference center. These sessions are designed for AEA staff with a focus on skills and requests that have been made throughout the year. PD Palooza supports our agency’s goal to increase educator capacity to bring equity and accessibility to learning through technology, resources and innovative practices.

 

The sessions will include:

  • Creating Great Presentations with Google Slides

  • iPad Accessibility for GWAEA Staff

  • Supporting Hattie’s Highly Effective Instructional Strategies with Digital Tools

  • The ABC Roadshow

  • UDL Digital Toolkit, and many more!

Welcome, Maya!

Baby Smith

Amber Bridge, GWAEA technology consultant, gave birth to Maya June Smith on April 24, 2019. Maya came early in their lives and had to have surgery a couple of days after her birth. After a 40-day NICU stay, Maya was able to come home at the beginning of June and is doing very well, and growing stronger each day.

Our Condolences...

  • to Janet Greene and family on the passing of her mother, Troyce Post, on July 14 in Titonka, Iowa. Services were held on July 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Titonka. Janet is a GWAEA curriculum consultant - math.

  • to Julie Burton and family on the passing of her father, William R. "Bill" Lamm, on July 21 in Madison, Wisconsin. A Celebration of Life service is planned on Sunday, July 28 from 1-3 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, Wisconsin. Julie is a GWAEA itinerant preschool teacher.

2019-2020 Total Quality (TQ) dates

Sept. 9, Nov 11, 2019; Feb 10 and May 11, 2020

Visit the TQ Google site to access the proposal template and direction. A link to the TQ site is available on the GWAEA Staff Portal under the Teacher Quality Committee link. Please submit your proposal electronically to Sherry Sines at ssines@gwaea.org by the dates listed above. Please be sure to use the current Teacher Quality proposal for 2019-20.

TQ funds are available to support professional learning for eligible AEA staff. Proposal reviews are typically completed by the TQ committee within 7 - 10 days after the due date.

 

All contracted staff in a position that requires an educational licensure are eligible. Funds can be used to support learning time and resources for agency-wide proposals, region, discipline, program proposals and individual proposals.

 

The application documents can be accessed on the Staff Portal. Committee members are happy to answer questions about a TQ development proposal. Contact Ambre Chittenden,
