All Agency Meeting, Aug. 14, 2019

We look forward to welcoming all staff to the 2019 All Agency meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

 

Staff will enter Solon High School through the main entrance (pictured, right), and this year we'll have coffee and water available during registration in the lobby area from 8-9 a.m. Staff will NOT be allowed to bring food,coffee or water (including personal water cups or thermoses) into the Solon Center for the Arts auditorium, where we'll begin our presentation at 9 a.m.

This year, we'll welcome several guests as part of our meeting. We'll hear from Lew Montgomery, former Iowa Hawkeye football player, who will offer us a parent perspective of our programs and services. Then we'll invite three school district staff - a superintendent, principal and a teacher- to join us and reflect on our programs and services from an LEA perspective. 

 

Join us as we celebrate successes from the past year and look ahead at strategically ensuring success for all learners. We look forward to seeing you!


PD Palooza, Aug. 15-16, 2019

GWAEA Staff Technology PD-Palooza

PD Palooza for GWAEA staff will be held Aug. 15-16 in the GWAEA Sixth St. Conference Center. Welcome the school year with new learning! The sessions include:

  • iPad Accessibility for GWAEA Staff

  • Creating Great Presentations with Google Slides

  • UDL Digital Toolkit

  • Supporting Hattie’s Highly Effective Instructional Strategies with Digital Tools

  • The ABC Roadshow, and more!

PD Palooza supports Grant Wood AEA's goal to increase educator capacity to bring equity and accessibility to learning through technology, resources, innovative practices, and new skills.
Additional workshops to support AEA staff will be offered during the school year.

Grant Wood AEA welcomes our new staff for the 2019-2020 school year! New staff participated in
orientation sessions facilitated by Grant Wood AEA Human Resources on Aug. 6-7 and also
sessions on Aug. 12-13.

The Bulletin Board
. These features will continue for several weeks at the beginning of the school year
and throughout the year as staff join our GWAEA team.

The Teacher Work Center has a new name:
The Creative Studio

Did you know?

The Teacher Work Center has a new name! The Creative Studio is the place where educators create works of art. DIY space is available for teachers to create classroom materials that promote and enhance student engagement. The services include laminators, die-cut shapes and devices, button makers, poster enlarger, and learning activity posters.

The names of GWAEA staff serving school districts are available on the agency's website, gwaea.org. Support staff are currently updating staff assignments. Soon this directory will reflect all staff building assignments including region assignments (where applicable). Follow the steps below to access the agency staff assigned to buildings. This reminder information will be shared with educators in the Grant Wood AEA service area this fall.

2019-2020 Total Quality (TQ) dates

Sept. 9, Nov 11, 2019; Feb 10 and May 11, 2020

Visit the TQ Google site to access the proposal template and direction. A link to the TQ site is available on the GWAEA Staff Portal under the Teacher Quality Committee link. Please submit your proposal electronically to Sherry Sines at ssines@gwaea.org by the dates listed above.

TQ funds are available to support professional learning. Proposal reviews are typically completed by the TQ committee within 7 - 10 days after the due date.

 

All contracted staff in a position that requires an educational licensure are eligible. Funds can be used to support learning time and resources for agency-wide proposals, region, discipline, program proposals and individual proposals.

 

The application documents can be accessed on the Staff Portal. Committee members are happy to answer questions about proposal development. Contact Ambre Chittenden,

GWAEA Professional Learning Workshops
