2014 Grant Wood AEA Parent/Student Transition Night, April 8

Cedar Rapids...As students with disabilities approach adulthood, their parents often have many questions about what the future holds for their child.


Some of these questions can be answered during Grant Wood AEA's "Your Child's Future...the Possibilities are Endless" Parent/Student Transition Night, planned on Tuesday, April 8 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at
West High School, 2901 Melrose Ave.,
Iowa City.



2014 GWAEA Transition Night Program


The registration number for "Your Child's Future...the Possibilities are Endless" is 19052-13-01. Registration is recommended but not required. There are three ways to register.

This event gives parents and students lots of information about independent living, life after high school, college requirements and assistance available for young people. The event will offer break-out sessions with helpful information about living, learning and working in the area. Presenters will include employers, representatives from support services, plus there will be booths available with additional information.

The keynote speaker to kick off the event will be Lew Montgomery, a Career Coach for ACT in Iowa City where he assists employees with career development. Lew is widely known as a standout student athlete during his years at the University of Iowa. As a Hawkeye, Lew lettered four times as the starting fullback on Hayden Fry’s teams that reached the 1990-91 Rose Bowl and the 1991 Holiday Bowl.

Refreshments and door prizes will also be available. The event is open to the public and is primarily intended for students with disabilities and their parents in the seven-county service area of Grant Wood AEA. For more information about the event, call 319-399-6700.
