Job Summary:
Provides skillful and imaginative programming for computer applications to meet the needs of internal and external clients.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, certification in computer programming, or equivalent combination of coursework/programming experiences.

Essential Functions:

  1. Analyzes program specifications for completeness and conformance to standards.
  2. Designs program logic to meet specifications that adhere to prescribed standards.
  3. Codes programs in authorized languages.
  4. Thoroughly tests coded programs to ensure specifications are met.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Participates in projects, committee or activities to support the mission of the program, unit and Agency
  2. Participates in staff development and professional growth activities.
  3. Maintains current knowledge of standard languages, coding methods and operations requirements.
  4. Defines requirements for improving or replacing systems.
  5. Documents programs according to installation standards.
  6. Prepares specifications for systems improvements.
  7. Develops systems testing and conversion plans.
  8. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships.
  2. Ability to function effectively as a team member and work collaboratively with others.
  3. Strong technical knowledge of standard programming languages, coding methods and operations requirements.
  4. Knowledge of relational database applications..
  5. Ability to apply and integrate technical knowledge, techniques and expertise into an effective style of service.
  6. Ability to convey a positive and professional image to staff and public.
  7. Ability to apply and implement appropriate attention to detail.
  8. Ability to read and interpret documents and apply appropriate mathematical concepts

Physical Requirements:

  1. Normal, routine levels of mobility.
  2. Ability to travel to client sites.
  3. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to perform the required skills including, but not limited to, the operation of computers, keyboards and mouse, telephones, etc.
